Tennessee State Flag

The three stars represent different areas of Tennessee and the different people in those locations.  The areas are the Great Smoky Mountains, highlands and lowlands along the Mississippi River.  They are known as east, middle and west Tennessee.  The people in these diverse areas have historically had their differences, and the circle around the stars serves to bind them together.
